How to make a shoe rack made of wood yourself. DIY shoe rack with lattice metal shelves

The problem of storing shoes is relevant for many families. After all, today each household member has several pairs that run around different cases. The rest of the time, shoes, shoes and boots need to be stored somewhere. Moreover, preferably not in plain sight, but closer, so that you can immediately take it when you need it.

Of course, it is better to store seasonal shoes in the dressing room or on the mezzanine, but those that are needed, if not today, then tomorrow, require a spacious shoe rack in the corridor or hall. IN furniture stores There are few such items, the choice is small. And even then, most of the presented shoe racks (that’s what shoe racks are also called) are part of furniture sets for hallways.

But getting a good, roomy shoe rack is not a problem. This item is easy to build yourself. You will need a little and the most ordinary material. For such a task, you also need an ordinary tool, which is probably found in every home.

Table of contents:

What is a shoe rack?

A shoe rack is a functional furniture complex that ensures the correct maintenance of shoes that are worn every day, as well as the organized storage of seasonal shoes.
The durability of shoe pairs, their durability and good appearance largely depend on its quality.

Even if you are lucky enough to buy a shoe rack in a store, the price of the simplest model will be no less than 5,000 rubles, whereas, having worked with your own hands, you can manage it for 1,500 -2,000 rubles. So it's worth a try. Moreover, it is not difficult if you follow the instructions and do not ignore good advice experienced furniture makers.

Traditional shoe rack

Simplest shoe cabinet- This floor shelf in 2 rows, made of plywood 6-10 mm thick:

Shoes with tops are placed on top of such a locker, and everything else is placed in the internal compartments. This shoe rack is good for everyone, but it “eats up” useful space of at least half a meter in length and 0.4 m in width. Therefore it is completely unacceptable for narrow corridors and small hallways of small apartments.

However, lack of space is not a reason to abandon the idea of placing family shoes correctly. Moreover, among modern designs For self-production, you can always choose a simple and compact model equipped with a simple mechanism.

Shoe maker now

For independent execution, you can choose the following options from modern shoe racks:

  1. A wardrobe with pull-out compartments for out-of-season shoes (3 pieces - for 3 “unused” seasons) + closed or open compartment for pairs currently worn.
  2. Shoe bench for spacious halls, corridors and hallways with openwork drying shelves under the seat.
  3. Pouf with an opening door for very small spaces.
  4. Petal shoe rack, in which shoes are stored in an almost vertical position on the shelves of folding trays, reinforced with rotating sector petal sidewalls. This design is compact and provides excellent ventilation and drying of shoes, boots, etc. stored in it.
  5. Bedside table with shoe rack, accommodating compact sizes all the family shoes.
  6. A monoblock of a bedside table and a seat, which is a good option if there is sufficient space.
  7. The shoe rack is a “carousel”, the contents of which are asymmetrically divided into 4 seasons.

Materials and connections

The best materials for creating a shoe rack with your own hands are coniferous wood and plywood. Porous coniferous wood will absorb possible excess moisture, and if there is insufficient humidity in the shoe rack, it will release it.

If shoes will be displayed in a box or on open shelves only after proper drying, you can use laminated chipboard (12 mm, class E0, E1 or E2) or MDF to create the structure.

And when metal or plastic is chosen as the material for the shoe rack, ready product must be open type, otherwise the shoes stored there will not “breathe” and dry at all.

How to make shoe racks?

Petalaceae

The most suitable for storing shoes are petal shoe racks. And they are quite accessible for self-production.

The main details in petal designs are those same petal liners. They are not cheap to buy, but they are also quite difficult to implement on your own (although possible, of course). To make such liners with your own hands, you will need or sheet metal, or plywood (6 mm, impregnated with varnish on water based for rigidity), or durable plastic thickness from 4 mm and more.

First you will need to make a drawing of the petal shoe rack that you especially like. For example:

Here, each of the trays is two-tiered, and for shoes with tops you will have to add a locker, since they will not fit in the tray (and this circumstance is considered the only drawback of shoe racks of this type).

The height of each section in this design starts from 300 mm + 6 mm for each gap, upper and lower. You will also need to make a similar gap (6 mm) between the front panel of the shoe rack and the tray lid - this is for ventilation.

The pocket-sinus, which is located above the top tray, should also be ventilated. But for these purposes it is better not to use a gap, but to make holes in a row with a diameter of 40 mm or more along the rear wall.

On the middle shelf at point A (it is marked in red in the drawing) ball clamps or removable pins are placed, with the help of which during the operation of the future product it will be possible to adjust the position of the shelf depending on its contents.

The dimensions, as well as the arrangement of the trays, can be seen in the following diagram:

A special feature of this design is the sockets of the rotary hinges, which are simply drilled into brackets made of steel angles, fixed from the inside to the front skin of the shoe rack. The tilting clamps are also attached to the same brackets if it is far from the sides of the structure. And when it's designed this way, the front cover of the tray can be any height. This means that the petal shoe rack will be able to store shoes with high tops, too, provided that the front lining of the structure is strong enough and not fragile (which is why drywall is used as building material not suitable for such a shoe rack).

Hinges and clamps

The rotary hinge is one of the most “tricky” assembly units in petal (and some other) shoe racks. It's better to just buy it. However, when this is not possible, you can try to make it yourself. To do this, you will need pieces of thin-walled tube without seams (preferably brass). These could also be pieces of hulls ballpoint pens or, for example, knee connectors of old fishing rods.

The procedure for making a hinge for a folding shoe rack tray with your own hands is described in the following instructions:

  1. From the prepared tube you will need to cut off parts (2 for each of the hinges), the length of which is equal to the depth of the hinge socket.
  2. Next, using a scraper (or a rimmer, or possibly a scraper), you will need to remove 0.25-0.35 mm chamfers from the inside of the clips.
  3. Then you will need to select bolts with a round head for the cages, the diameter of which should match the gap (up to 0.5 mm) of the cage. Burrs on such heads can be removed with a file, and the head can be adjusted to the holder using sandpaper.
  4. Then you need to drill holes for the clips using a Forstner drill. And the drill must be of such a diameter that the clips fit into the holes quite tightly.
  5. Next, the clips need to be pressed into the holes. If they fit in freely, you need to glue them with any metal glue.
  6. Now you need to insert the bolts into the corresponding holes of the petal gaskets. And tighten with nuts on spring washers.

After the completed manipulations, the hinges are considered ready for subsequent assembly.

Storage

Rack and cabinet

The rack is the optimal design for long-term storage large quantity shoes (up to 30 pairs). However, it will require about 0.6 sq m for its placement usable area. It would be better to allocate a dressing room for such a design. Moreover, the rack does not have a back wall - it is attached directly to the wall with self-tapping screws (6x70 mm in plastic dowels) on steel corners. In this case, it is better to make the shelves and walls from laminated chipboard (20 mm) and timber (30x30 mm).

Important: This rack is universal. And it can be added in sections as long as there is enough space. And the wall behind it may be weak, not necessarily load-bearing. After all, the fastening of the structure is dispersed.

As for the shoe cabinet, it is more compact than a rack and can fit in a passage whose width is 1.5 m. The length can reach 2 m. The shelves of such a cabinet are of the same design, and they can be fixed to the sides with corners or dowels on ordinary shelf holders or in milling grooves.

And with ventilation, the same option is possible as for the rack: without a back wall with a gap from the wall of 40 mm (this is exactly the width of the floor plinth). The back trims are made from the same board as the shelves with partitions.

Organizers

If there is no space at all to organize shoe storage, a system such as an organizer can help out. At the same time, you can only buy an organizer cabinet in a store, which requires at least 2 square meters of space for installation. And for very small rooms it is better to use a shoe organizer suitcase that easily fits under the bed. The price of such a suitcase is not too high, but if you don’t have enough money, you can build an organizer yourself by gluing together a sufficient number of shoe boxes. And you can design such a design in an interesting way, with imagination. It will turn out no worse, or even better, than store-bought.

If there is a suitable niche in the apartment (for example, in the corridor), then the cardboard shoe organizer can be placed in a spacer so that the sides of the niche give rigidity to the entire structure. For the same purpose, the sides of shoe boxes can be impregnated with a water-polymer emulsion or PVA diluted with water 2-3 times.

About drying and dryers

Before storing shoes in a shoe rack, no matter what they are, you need to dry them thoroughly. But it is more correct to do this without using commercial electric dryers. After all, the task of such devices is rapid extreme drying, which, if used regularly, can seriously damage shoes. For shoes, boots, boots, etc. The sole may peel off and the upper may crack.

It is possible to properly dry shoes only in natural conditions, in an inclined position, with toes down. A stylish drying organizer can, for example, be bent from plastic and secured with a zigzag. Or by attaching metal pins to the timber frame base.

You can quickly build it at home efficient drying with absorbent stone chips. Make a small box with low sides. And fill it with dolomite crushed stone, which has excellent moisture-absorbing properties. Shoes should be placed on such a dryer clean and wiped dry on the outside. They dry even faster when poured into such a box with a thin layer of silica gel, rounded sea pebbles or shell.

Even a small amount of untidy shoes in the hallway creates a feeling of untidiness and disorder. But what if the family is large and there are a lot of shoes? What if the corridor is narrow? In such a situation, spacious and non-bulky shoe shelves will save you. With their help, you can compactly place all your sandals, shoes, boots and boots, saving space in the lobby. We offer to organize free place in the hallway and make a roomy shoe rack. Moreover, a do-it-yourself shoe rack is great opportunity show off your knowledge and carpentry skills, because its design is extremely simple.

One more positive thing The advantage of making a shoe stand with your own hands is the availability of materials from which you can make it. In addition, if you use available means and materials to make it, you will be able to significantly save your family’s budget.

Wooden shoe rack in the hallway - no one has canceled traditions

The tree is the most common and available material to create any homemade furniture, this also applies to shoe racks. Options for making shelves from chipboard or MDF, from boards or furniture panels. You can make a budget shelf if you make it from plywood with your own hands. Opt for high-quality birch plywood.

Except suitable material you will need a standard set of carpentry tools:

  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • sandpaper or sander;
  • drill;
  • screws and metal corners for fastening the structure or furniture ties;
  • special protective equipment for processing wooden products.

The first thing you need to think about is the drawings and diagrams of the shelf or rack you like. You can draw them yourself or find suitable ones on the Internet and adjust them to your size.

So, everything is prepared to create a shelf for shoes made of wood, you can get to work.

Reading time ≈ 3 minutes

We strive for beauty and comfort, choosing modern and attractive materials to decorate our homes. However, some interior items should be present in the house not only for reasons of prestige or fashion, but also for the ease of maintaining order and comfort in the apartment. Such important detail is a shoe cabinet in the hallway, which allows you to organize the storage of shoes and maintain cleanliness at the entrance to your apartment.

Which shoe cabinet to choose for the hallway?

It is impossible to give a general answer to the question of which shoe cabinet to choose for the hallway, because in our apartments various interiors, and apartment owners have different tastes, but you should pay attention to general recommendations. When choosing a shoe cabinet, you need to consider the following aspects:

  • the model must be extremely reliable and made from environmentally friendly materials;
  • the chosen furniture for the hallway must match the style in which the apartment is already decorated;
  • does the size of the cabinet correspond to the dimensions of your hallway;
  • how spacious and functional is the shoe closet in the hallway?
  • Are there compartments in the selected model? different sizes for storing shoes for different seasons.

Types of shoe racks for the corridor

Shoe cabinets in the hallway, photos of which are posted on our website, will help you see the differences between various types cabinets, and their description is presented below.

Slim- perfect for small hallway. It is so narrow that it fits perfectly even behind the door, and the hinged doors will make its operation comfortable and enjoyable.

Bona looks like a showcase, and its facade can be finished with either transparent glass or frosted or solid doors.

Coupe- one of the most fashionable and modern options. Popular design solutions will allow it to fit organically into almost any hallway interior.

Cabinet- will be an excellent storage for seasonal shoes in apartments. The model is usually equipped with hinged doors, and its functionality is provided by several internal shelves.

Built-in shoe rack will take its place in the niche of the built-in storage room, if there is one in the apartment. Such a solution will free the corridor from unnecessary elements.

Thus, by looking through the photographs, you can decide on the model that will become optimal solution for your apartment.

Selecting materials and model design

Despite the aesthetic pleasure that your favorite cabinet model gives you, think about its functionality. Shoes are a constant source of dirt and moisture, so the material from which the closet is made should not be afraid of water and be easy to clean. Modern models Made from wood or high quality plastic. Unique fittings, as in the photo, will allow you to turn an ordinary shoe cabinet with a mirror into a work of art in your hallway.

Shoes underfoot in the hallway create inconvenience and clutter up the space. Buying a special shelf or even a cabinet is expensive for many people, and why, if from scrap materials in the house and garage you can create not only functional design, but also to emphasize the design of the hallway. For assembly we will use both standard wood materials and non-standard ones - PVC pipes, pallets and even cardboard.

Depending on what kind of shoes you store in the hallway, the diameter of the pipes will depend. Let's start with a simpler option, which is suitable for storing demi-season, summer, children's, and house shoes. We use as a basis sewer PVC pipes with a diameter of 110 mm. This is enough to accommodate shoes up to size 42. For shoes larger size We recommend using pipes with a diameter of 160 or 200 mm. Additionally, for shoes, you will need a hacksaw, a tie belt, aerosol can with paint. The work order is as follows:

  1. 1. Saw off desired length pipes with a hacksaw. We recommend 30 cm, but you can make the length shorter or longer, it will all depend on the size of your shoes. One such pipe is a cell for one or a pair of shoes. We make as many of these cells as you need to accommodate the entire collection.
  2. 2. Sand the sharp edges formed after cutting with sandpaper
  3. 3. To make the shelf fit better with the interior, paint it in the chosen color. It is more convenient to work with spray paint, but you can use other materials
  4. 4. We arrange the pipes in a pyramid and tighten them with a belt.
  5. 5. Insert shoes into each cell and enjoy the result.

It is better to fasten pipes for such a shelf with liquid nails

But if you need a larger shelf for shoes in the hallway, we purchase PVC sewer pipes with a diameter of 300 mm. It will certainly fit not only shoes and sneakers, but also long boots. We divide the selected pipe into equal sections using a hacksaw and also clean the sharp edges with sandpaper. To decorate the compartments, we suggest using paper wallpaper or self-adhesive vinyl film. Decorate not only the outside, but also the inside so that the shelf has a complete look. Insulating or fabric tape will help hide the joints formed along the edges. suitable size. Next, we fasten the blanks together using hot glue or bolt fastening. You adjust the number of sections in each row yourself. They can be the same, presented in the form of a pyramid or a honeycomb, your imagination is at work here.

Classic wooden shelving unit

A shelf for storing shoes made of wood is a simple and convenient option. Due to the fact that wood lends itself well to processing, it is easy to work with. To achieve the desired shape and size, you will need a plane, sander, saw, hammer, screwdriver set, as well as a pencil and tape measure for marking. To create shelves, we prepare in advance: wooden blocks and strips, screws, varnish for opening.

We saw off six equal bars 33 cm long. These will be the sides of the structure, 2 for each shelf. Their length is the depth of the rack, which is enough to comfortably store an adult pair of shoes. Using a plane, we make cuts on the sides of the sidewalls that correspond to the depth of the long bars on which the shoes will stand. For each shelf, we suggest providing 4 cross beams about 62 cm long, so that several pairs of shoes can comfortably fit on one tier. We insert the long beams into the recesses made in the sidewalls and fasten them together with self-tapping screws. We carry out the same procedure with the remaining shelves, you choose their number yourself. Sand sharp edges with sandpaper.

The optimal distance between each shelf should be at least 25 cm so that you have the opportunity to place not only short boots, but also long boots. In our case, the total height of the structure will be slightly more than 80 cm and consist of three shelves. To connect the shelves we use wooden planks, we also make cuts in them to the depth of the timber every 25 cm.

In our case, we make the lower cuts at a distance of 25 cm from each other, and the last one at 33 cm. Thus, after connecting the shelves, the upper part of the structure will protrude literally 7 cm, this is enough. We cover the upper side strips with a cross bar, making a side. We grind the sharp edges with a machine or sandpaper, and open the structure with several layers of varnish. The shoe shelf is ready. With your own hands, you can fit at least three pairs of shoes on one shelf.

In order to make this unusual shelf, you will need plywood and shoe brushes, maybe old Soviet ones. First, let's decide on the dimensions of the upper part. We measure the dimensions of the future shelf. The length of the structure will depend on the number of brushes. Make the depth of the shelf 5 cm greater than the width of the brush. We have decided on the dimensions, now we cut out two absolutely identical pieces and connect them together with a “book”, we get an angle of 90°. To connect the parts, we retreat 1 cm from the edge of the bottom of the shelf and connect both ends with a screw. We do the same with the second side. Next, we cut out two identical squares from plywood, the sides of which correspond to the width of the shelf, and fix them on both sides, closing the corner.

Let's do the brushes. If they have handles, cut them off with a hacksaw and smooth out the rough edges with a file. We drill two holes in each brush on each side, using screws we screw them to the bottom of the shelf in one or several rows - it all depends on the quantity. The first part of the structure is ready, set it aside.

If the brushes have handles, they need to be sawed off

Let's take another sheet of plywood. It should be equal to the length of the first part, and its width should correspond to the large size shoes On average you will get 35–40 cm, which corresponds to size 43–44. To make the bottom side, we cut out another plywood board equal to total length and 15 cm wide. We fix both parts at 90°, connecting the ends according to the same principle as in the first part of the structure. We get a side for shoes.

Now we connect the first and second workpieces together with screws, paying attention Special attention in the corners. We paint it, and when the paint dries, we make two side holes in the back panel for wall mounting. Such shoe shelf will fit into any hallway and will not take up much space. Thanks to the brush holders, the shoes will not fall over.

This shoe rack is more complicated. To make it yourself, you will need certain carpenter skills, additional tools and materials that may not be in your arsenal. Let's look at two options for a round rotating shelf with shelves - regular and with a soft pouf for sitting.

Using a jigsaw, we create circles from wooden slabs and mark out the sections

For the first option we prepare wooden slab 12 mm thick and cut it into three equal squares of 70 cm each. These will be the bases for the shelves. If you want to make the shelf taller, cut out more blanks. Square shape turn the cut slab into a circle with a radius of 35 cm using electric jigsaw. We cut the slab into equal planks - these are the walls of the sector, in each of which there will be a pair of shoes. Moreover, they should not be the same in height in each tier. For example, for the lower shelf they can be made higher, sections for high boots, and the upper ones can be made symmetrical for shoes and sneakers. To make the sectors even, use a protractor to mark the angles of 60°, and use a ruler to make markings on both sides of the circle. We nail nails onto each line of the sector until we bring them all the way. We apply liquid nails to the markings and fasten the board, finally fixing it with reverse side iron nails. We do the same with the rest of the shelves.

Let's do wooden frame To raise the shelf above ground level, connect it to the bottom shelf. Next, paint all the elements in your favorite color, after sanding the edges. We recommend using white paint and a black border for contrast. To ensure that each shelf rotates freely, we install turntables between the tiers, fix them strictly in the center, having previously drilled a hole for the bolt and nut.

The final stage will be painting the shelf

The second option is a rotating shoe rack with soft seat. General principle its build is unchanged. However, instead of three or more tiers, we recommend making two, adjusting comfortable height for sitting. Also, instead of a frame base, you can attach wheels to make the shelf mobile. Upper part We make the shelves soft. We use batting as a base. We cut out two circles from the filler corresponding to the diameter of the shelf, and two more smaller ones, about 7–10 cm. When laying the batting, we get a protrusion. It's time for upholstery. We cut the fabric according to the diameter of the circle with a margin of at least 5 cm. We fix it around the entire perimeter using a construction stapler. Read more about at what distance to fasten staples and how to select upholstery, you will learn in the article about. We cut off the excess fabric, and to hide the staples, we frame the outline with upholstery tape.

Cardboard shoe shelves, like other cardboard furniture, are gaining more and more popularity in interior design. Ordinary ones are used as a basis. carton boxes, which are found in the house, perhaps, in everyone. If you don’t have them, think about the nearest store or warehouse, where such boxes lie in a crowd unused. Besides corrugated cardboard To work you will need colored wide tape, scissors, a ruler and a glue gun; if you don’t have one, you can use regular PVA.

Cardboard rectangles are folded into triangles

We prepare the cardboard by cutting out a rectangle with sides 45x35 cm. This size will be optimal for both small and big couple shoes We measure 15 cm from each edge with a ruler and make folds. We cover the sides that we will bend into a triangle with colored tape; this will be the central part of the stand. We fold the cardboard into a triangle along the folds and secure it along the edges and center with colored tape. We repeat the same manipulations with all other sections - we choose their number at your discretion. After you have completed all the sections according to plan, we begin assembling the cardboard shelf. We fasten the bottom row of triangles together with colored tape, and for reliability we go over the joints with a glue gun. We do the same with the remaining rows, fastening them together. When finished, you will have a shoe stand made from triangles. We store shoes in through sections.

Attention, in order for the design to serve you for a long time, shoes must always be dry and clean.

Another budget invention made from cardboard - vertical shelves for shoes. It’s easy to make such a design with your own hands. It is ideal for storing slippers, shoes, sneakers and summer shoes in the hallway and does not take up much space. For work you will need a sheet of cardboard 70x60 cm.

We retreat 2.5 cm along the length of the cardboard from the edges. From these points we measure a vertical line of 25 cm and draw a horizontal segment 20 cm long. We connect the sides, we get a rectangle of 25x20 cm. A square of 25x25 cm is formed between the two rectangles. We retreat the upper corners of the square by 11 cm. We draw diagonals into the lower corners of the square and get two triangles on both sides. Draw a rectangle with sides 35x25 cm from the square down. As a result, you should get a T-shaped blank, where the protrusions are two equal rectangles with sides 25x20 cm, and the central part is a square 25x20 cm and a rectangle 35x25 see. Cut off all excess.

To work you will need a large sheet of cardboard.

Now we bend the cardboard along the lines, first vertical in the center, and then diagonal. To avoid damaging the material, use a ruler to make an even bend. After this, lift the bottom rectangle (35x25 cm), then the T-shaped top and wrap the diagonal bends behind the base on both sides. In your toga you should have a pocket with triangular ribs on the sides. We fix the bends on the back side of the base with regular cardboard glue. For reliability, we recommend a glue gun. We make several such pocket shelves, and then connect them together by the upper protrusion with the same glue. You adjust the number of sections yourself. If desired, the shelves can be decorated, painted and upholstered with twine, and covered with self-adhesive film. At the end, we make a hole in the last section and hang a vertical shelf on the wall.

Simple shelves made from boxes and pallets

You can make a shelf for shoes from boxes that can also be found on the farm. To construct them, you will not need to additionally purchase complex parts and tools. If you are the owner of mesh boxes, we fasten them together in a vertical position using a clamp or strong wire. The front part of the shelf remains open, we put shoes. We choose the number of tiers ourselves, it all depends on the size and depth of the boxes.

You can do the same with wooden boxes. To fasten them together you will need nails and a hammer. This design will look better if it is sanded and the wood is painted. If desired wooden boxes You can not fasten them together, but hang them on the wall in a chaotic manner.

However, the most simple stand for shoes is constructed from a pallet. All you need to do with it is sand it and repaint it the color you want. Having placed the pallet in a vertical position, we insert shoes into the spaces between the slats. It will hold up well and will not fall.

Every person's wardrobe is undoubtedly large. Among all things, shoes occupy an important place. It is placed separately from all other items of clothing. In most cases, shoes, for convenience, are stored in the hallway or corridor. In order for it to serve for a long time, it is necessary to handle it carefully and also store it correctly. For the latter, a separate shelf is best. You can buy it in a store or make it yourself. In this article you will learn how to make a shoe rack with your own hands.

Today, furniture stores have a huge number of shelves. different forms and designs. Choosing a model yourself is sometimes difficult. First of all, the dimensions of the structure are calculated:

  • height;
  • length;
  • width.

It is also worth considering the number of shelves or cells and their height. To do this, you need to review all shoes for their size. In addition, the design can be supplemented with a cabinet, banquette or other decorative finishing. The shelf can have a corner, round, rectangular shape, be rotating.

A simple, but at the same time durable shelf can be made from scrap materials, for example, wood or a sheet of fiberboard.

The durability and practicality of a shoe rack will depend on the material from which it is made. So today there are practically no restrictions in choice. Among the most common materials are:

  • plywood;
  • tree;
  • laminate;
  • slats;
  • profile;
  • box;
  • pipes;
  • metal.

The most common is wood. You also need to buy varnish or paint. Thanks to this, the shelf will repel moisture and dirt. This also applies to chipboard. Experts advise providing a bottom shelf for wet shoes, which will serve for drying. IN additional protection need and hardware, since corrosion may occur as a result of exposure to moisture. You can use leftover paint to create a protective layer. The manufactured shelf can be installed in the hallway.

Thanks to the protective layer, the wood will not be subject to swelling and, as a result, deformation. This will increase the service life of the product by several years.

Making a shelf at home does not require a lot of time and effort. In most cases, everything depends on the design, so specifying a standard set will be somewhat problematic. When selecting tools, be sure to include in the list:

  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • hacksaw (for metal or wood);
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • glue;
  • fasteners;
  • chisel;
  • sanding machine or sandpaper.

When planning to make a shelf out of wood and metal, carefully select paint and varnish materials. It is desirable that the finished shelf matches the interior of the room.

The most relevant and simple option is a shelf for shoes made of wood. To install it, it is enough to take several boards that were left after repair and finishing work. As already mentioned, first of all it is necessary to decide on the dimensions, functionality and design of the product. After selecting all the tools and fasteners, you can begin assembly:

  1. From the prepared lumber it is necessary to cut all the elements in a given quantity: support bars, crossbars, side posts.
  2. To prevent injury, all prepared parts are treated with fine sandpaper.
  3. Using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver, the frame is fastened and the shelves are mounted.
  4. The finished product is coated with varnish or paint.

An old cabinet or shelf can serve as the basis for making a shoe rack. In this case, the whole procedure is greatly simplified.

An equally simple option that you can do yourself is a combination of wood and metal strips. You can use both regular boards and fiberboard sheets, but the thickness should not exceed 1.5 cm. The planks should have a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 2 cm. Ideal option will stainless steel, which is not afraid of moisture. Don't forget about fasteners.

For convenience, it is better to draw a sketch of the future product on paper. This will help avoid errors or defects. The side and back walls are cut out of wood. All edges must be smooth. For convenience, use a grinding machine or sandpaper. Before fastening all prepared elements, it is necessary to apply markings. Nails and screws can serve as fasteners.

It is best to place such a shelf on the floor. In order for a large structure to be held on the wall in the corridor, it must be securely fastened.

So, creating a shelf for storing shoes yourself is quite simple. You need to have the desire and also allocate some time. By showing your imagination, you can get not only the necessary thing, but also original item decor that can harmoniously fit into the interior of the hallway.
