Chalet with attic and terrace projects. Design of combined chalet-style houses

As mentioned above, the word chalet meant lonely huts in the mountains; they usually served as shelter for shepherds or lumberjacks. In such houses they sheltered from snow and rain, cooked food right there - in a stone hearth, the prototype modern fireplace. There was no specific owner of the house, so the furnishings were extremely simple and uncomplicated. A style was formed - simple, using natural materials. The first floor was made of stones, sometimes whitewashed with lime for beauty. The second floor was assembled from logs, which were prepared right there from nearby trees. They made a simple gable, low-set roof to protect from cold mountain winds and snow avalanches. The chalet style became widely known as Alpine ski resorts developed. It was usually wealthy people who skied, and many people liked this style. For a long time centuries-old history a lot has changed, but simplicity and natural materials remain unchanged - everything that made chalet house designs so popular.

Advantages of chalet style houses

The advantage is that the combination of stone and wood creates this characteristic and recognizable appearance. The first floor in chalet house projects is built of stone, mainly used building blocks or brick. The second floor is made of wood, timber, profiled timber is used, double beam, rounded log. The main advantage is the combination of an enlarged base and a low, spreading roof. The projects are becoming more comfortable and larger than the first single chalet in French Alps. However, you can be sure that when ordering the design of a chalet house from our company, you will receive all the benefits of this technology!

Features in design

When designing chalet houses, it is necessary to take into account their features:

  • high stone base (if the chalet project is one-story)
  • stone ground floor (if with attic)
  • the roof is squat, gable, with large overhangs
  • A special feature is the mandatory use of a fireplace
  • use of exclusively natural materials in construction
  • natural colors in decoration
  • rough plaster exterior, usually white
  • provide open terraces under long roof overhangs
  • balconies and loggias in the chalets are larger than usual

Chalet layouts

In our company, the layout of chalet houses depends on the wishes of the customer and the advice of an experienced architect. Available standard options room layouts, the basic principles are:

  1. On stone first floor is usually placed the following premises- kitchen, bathroom, boiler room, workshop, living room with fireplace.
  2. Layout of the second wooden floor should contain bedrooms, possibly an office for work.

We carry out all plans individually, often ordered one-story projects chalets, sometimes they ask to include a garage, or a bathhouse with a sauna on the ground floor.

Decoration and interior in chalet style

During construction and exterior decoration chalets are usually used a natural stone and wood in the form of timber or logs. The walls of the first floor, both inside and outside, are most often plastered in light shades, for example just in White color. Wooden surfaces usually paint dark brown for the effect of old darkened wood. In interior decoration floor covering serves artificially aged batten, or painted with a patina effect, or varnished. To decorate ceilings in the interior, leave ceiling beams, painted in dark color in contrast with a light ceiling, it can be stretched. By the way, it will look very stylish, but quite natural.

Chalet in Russia

Chalet house designs are well suited to the Russian climate thanks to their strong construction; autumn dampness and winter frosts are not a problem for them! These are no longer traditional alpine houses, but the main recognizable features have remained unchanged thanks to characteristic features. The chalet style has been tested by time and the harsh mountain climate, so it is perfect for designing houses in Russia. An example of comfort and simplicity, a combination of reliability and coziness, it is ideal for hearth and home. Our project organization successfully designs chalet-style houses and offers to familiarize yourself with ready-made projects, or make it custom.

Chalet-style houses take their origins from the houses of Norman peasants who lived in northern France in Normandy around the 14th-15th centuries. Usually, when a project is being drawn up, a chalet house is designed as a one-story house, but the construction of a chalet-style house may involve two or even more floors. Rarely found pure wooden houses in the chalet style, they are usually combined: the lower parts of the house are stone, the upper parts are wooden.

Chalet style features

The main features of chalet-style houses can be defined as follows:

In chalet houses, the second floor or attic part is usually built from timber, if the house is one-story

Features of chalet houses made of brick and wood

It was already stated above that the design of a chalet house usually involves the use of a stone bottom and a wooden top. But it is best to use brick for the lower part of the house.

What will be the advantages of such a house:

Typically, such houses require a large terrace
  • Brick is an absolutely non-flammable material. That is why it is preferable to use it in the houses described. Has anyone ever wondered why there are houses like this at ski resorts? The fact is that on the ground floor there is always a stone or a stove installed there. If we are talking about permanent housing, then a fireplace will help little: a boiler is needed here. So, in the case when the design of a chalet house with a garage involves a first floor made of brick, then on the first floor the fire may well be open, without the need additional protection. The material is brick, and wooden houses do not allow anyone to use an open flame in them on the first floors;
  • Durability. Entirely wooden houses assume that their crown will be in direct contact with the ground: fungus, mold, rot, moisture, of course, will also be present. This a priori cannot happen in a chalet: the wood comes into contact only with the stone, that is, directly with the second part of the house, and not with the ground. Therefore, about mold and others unpleasant consequences you can simply forget.

When building chalet houses, you can avoid expensive high foundations, as is the case with wooden houses: brick and other types of similar building materials perfectly retain moisture.

Theoretically, if we take into account the cost of building materials (without associated costs), then the advantage of a chalet made of brick and wood can also be called cost-effectiveness. Why?

An example of a first floor plan for a chalet style house

Just completely brick house, naturally, will cost much more than a combined one. In addition, you can make a real terrace in the chalet (without it, this style cannot be such at all).

But the costs of building the roof and roof covering will already be significant - this must be admitted. By the way, in the Alps as roofing material Usually they use either traditional tiles (real ones, not corrugated sheets) or shingles. Both of these materials are quite heavy, so the load-bearing part of the roof will have to be further strengthened in any case.

Foundation arrangement

The construction of the described house involves the following stages:

It is not worthwhile to completely disassemble each stage of construction: any combined house will be built exactly the same as the most ordinary one. The most important thing regarding exclusively chalet style: here Special attention You need to pay attention to the foundation and insulation. This is something worth talking about in more detail.

For the houses described, two types of foundations are used:

  1. tape;
  2. tiled.

Considering climatic conditions It is better to give preference to Russia strip foundation, since it is simply more durable. Typically a strip monolithic foundation is used.

Example of a strip foundation device

It is not at all necessary to make it reinforced: only half of the house consists of stone, the second part is much lighter.

Gutters in a chalet house are almost never provided for when projects are drawn up: given that the roof is gable and has a projection, the water will simply drain from it without falling on the house itself and without destroying it from the inside.

The only thing that needs to be taken into account when building a foundation is that it must be buried. According to Russian engineering standards (which almost completely correspond to the old Soviet ones), the depth of the foundation for a residential building must be at least 0.5 meters.

Drawing of a modern chalet with interior

In the case of combined houses, the depth should be at least 1.5 meters. This is a mandatory condition that cannot be ignored under any circumstances.

Insulation of the house

Wall insulation is almost always carried out using the so-called “ventilated facade” technology. What you need to know when insulating brickwork:

The facade of the house is ventilated

If desired, instead of covering you can use facing brick. It’s worth saying right away that the facing brick should be at least a quarter (maximum one third) thicker than the main brick that was used in construction. Such cladding will make the insulation of the house even more effective.

IN combined houses It is necessary to use a ventilated façade: any stone structure must “breathe”, otherwise the presence of fungi, mold and other unpleasant “surprises” will be ensured after 3-4 months after the start of operation of the house.

If the building is one-story (for example, in the basement there is a garage, and the residential part is only on the second floor), then facing bricks do not need to be used: simple decorative cladding with the simplest finishing materials will be enough.

In chalet houses, water vapor is not allowed to reach the insulation

In general, with regard to the insulation of such a house, it is necessary to take into account what technology was used to build the second floor and what materials for its construction the technical design required:

Beam - best option for chalets
  1. Projects for frame technology. It is usually used in Western Europe, since such houses are energy efficient and heat saving. The main thing here is that the insulation is completely isolated from water vapor;
  2. Unplaned timber. Its main advantage is that the exterior finish can be virtually anything. And the “ventilated facade” already described above is ideal as insulation;
  3. Rounded logs. For alpine chalets their use is uncharacteristic, but for Russian architecture - yes. Only the logs need to be caulked very well. From an energy efficiency point of view, such houses are not very good. But it’s beautiful!;
  4. Glued laminated timber. The most elite, expensive option. You can also insulate the second floor of laminated timber using ventilated facade technology.

Home interior design

The main feature of the interior of houses in this style is naturalness and naturalness. For example, everyone wooden beams, parts of the house remain the same as they were during construction.

The interior of the chalet should emphasize naturalness and comfort

The only thing: they can be painted with varnish or stain of any color. In the interior it is customary to use decorative elements made of natural or natural stone.

What's happened classic interior chalet? On the ground floor, in the center there is usually a rug in the shape of an animal skin (and even better if this skin is real). In the corner, like a real hunter, hangs the head of a deer or other animal.

In the fireplace part, a kind of panel is made of stones. The main thing is that there is no “gypsyism”. Essentially, the interior should look like this hunting lodge, lost somewhere on the southern slope of Mont Blanc. None bright colors It absolutely shouldn't be. Otherwise, the whole point of building such a house will be reduced to zero.

Bright colors can only be used for furniture upholstery

Furniture is usually upholstered with unpainted textiles. The ideal option would be a slightly rough, baggy cloth (if anyone remembers Crime and Punishment, then one of the heroines used a draped scarf - this is exactly the kind of fabric that will be used for drapeds ideal option for upholstery).

To diversify the interior in terms of color, you can use muted brown, dark burgundy colors, purple is also quite acceptable. As for furniture, there are no particularly strict rules: you can use anything, even the most unusual and bright furniture from modern designers.

Interior

Ready-made chalet house designs made from combined materials are becoming increasingly popular in Russia. But what are the advantages of these European country cottages? It would seem that they are very far from our realities and the needs of homeowners. But it turns out that they have a number of advantages, which we will dwell on in more detail.

Features of modern chalet-style house projects

Modern projects are very different from buildings of the 19th century. For example, in traditional buildings the first floor was built of stone, and the second floor was made of wood. Today architects prefer to lay out the basement of the first floor artificial stone, in order to maintain the style. And both brick and blocks can be used as the main material for walls. And only thanks exterior decoration from wooden parts, the style of a hut in the snowy mountains is recreated. also in new interpretation it is permissible to use a bay window, which is missing in classic chalets.

On our website you will find a wide variety of these houses: the catalog with dimensions and photos contains the following types of projects:

  • Small chalet-style houses up to 150-200 sq. m., for example, two-story with brick columns No. 57-91K or one-story No. 58-70K;
  • Very small “country” houses up to 100-120 square meters. m., for example, mini-chalet No. 10-76;
  • Country wooden cottages from laminated veneer lumber ( Finnish technology) or rounded logs: an interesting example No. 12-40 with a second light and a swimming pool;
  • Projects with ground floor, according to which you can build a chalet on a slope (No. 13-37);
  • Using foam blocks, aerated concrete and wood, best example - №57-83 ;

The chalet goes well with surrounding nature and landscape, so they are often chosen in this style elite projects dacha

Advantages of Alpine, Austrian and Swiss chalets:

  • Combination stylish design using modern materials in the house project. Thanks to this, you get all the advantages and avoid possible disadvantages.
  • Fireplace in the manor. Just imagine how cozy evening gatherings with the whole family in the living room by the fireplace will be during the cold season.
  • This building is suitable for anyone suburban area, and will look great against the backdrop of the natural landscape - even forest chalets are being built.
  • No one
