In 1995, due to the civil war and the exhaustion of the budget, the national team of this country was also unable to play a single match. During the 1990s, the national team did not perform regularly due to the civil war and lack of finances.

In 1996, the team played only two matches as part of the qualifications for the 1996 Asian Cup against the Uzbekistan team. The first match, held in Dushanbe, ended with a crushing score of 4:0 in favor of the Tajikistan team, and in the second match in Tashkent, the Uzbekistan team also defeated Tajikistan with a score of 5:0 and thus the Tajikistan team was unable to get a ticket to the 1996 Asian Cup, which was held in UAE. In 1997-1999, the national team played 15 matches, of which they won 7 matches.

In the period from 1992 to 1999, the Tajikistan team played a total of 23 matches, 9 matches of which ended in victory for the Tajikistan team, 5 matches ended in a draw, and in 9 matches the Tajikistan team lost. Goals scored - 41, goals conceded - 38.
